Oh hey there! Welcome to my blog.
As someone who is new to blogging, I thought I'd take a minute to do a bit of an introduction so you can learn a bit about myself and the purpose of this blog.
My name is Lisa and I am a hairstylist living and working outside of Boston, MA. I am still in the beginning stages of my career: building a clientele, working my way up the ranks in the salon, all of that fun stuff. It is a tough field to get started in. Basically you start off as the "salon bitch". You get coffees, sweep, shampoo, fold towels, book appointments. Basically you do all the behind the scenes stuff that no one wants to do. But it's all totally worth it when you get to start doing hair.
I'm lucky enough to work in a small salon that encouraged me to take my own clients right from the beginning. Usually, newly licensed cosmetologist assist for multiple years before even touching clients. I'm so thankful that I don't have to go through that or I probably would have lost my mind. I don't get how salons expect you to not do hair for years and then jump right and start taking clients. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Anyways, since becoming a hairdresser, I have learned a lot about the beauty industry and what it means to different people. And that's why I wanted to create this blog. I feel like I have so much to say about products, techniques, life, self esteem.... and I need to put it out there. I definitely think everyone's voice has value and what better way to get my voice heard!
So I'm sorry if that was a bit of a rant but this was kind of a stream of consciousness post. I promise my future posts will be more thought out and meaningful.
Tata for now and stay tuned for lots more to come!
